The Russian suitcase begins with a brief geographic
and historic description of the country. Art, music and books
from Russia provide the main content of the program. Paintings
by Chagall and Kandinsky and music by Tchaikovsky are featured.
Next come several traditional stories from children's books published
in Moscow. Then the suitcase is opened to reveal a collection
of Russian folk art and toys such as the famous Matryoshka or
nesting dolls.
To conclude, the children illustrate scenes from the Russian fairy tale, The Firebird.
